When I was young I would spend my Saturdays with my father. The normal routine was that we would wake-up, go to breakfast and then run errands together. Not only did I love spending the time with my father, I got to learn to question things.

As my father and I would drive throughout San Diego, I had a book that had questions and answers in it. I would always bring a book with me, and I would query my father if he knew “Why a chicken lays eggs?” or “What makes electric electrical?”. I loved this time with my father and those simple days put a sense of questioning in me that I still have to this day.

To this day, when ever I see a curious question and answer book I am compelled to purchase it. It goes without saying that when I received for review and giveaway a copy of Can Holding in a Fart Kill You? Over 150 Curious Questions and Intriguing Answers by Andrew Thompson I remembered those days with my father.

Can Holding in a Fart Kill You? Over 150 Curious Questions and Intriguing Answers by Andrew Thompson is over 280 pages of 150 curious questions, much like the ones I asked my father when I was a child.

From the title question of “Can Holding in a Fart Kill You?” to “What does train spotting involve?” and 148 other curious questions this book answers it all. There are questions relating to why barns are the color red, to health disorders, to food and pop-culture questions (Is Jurassic Park possible?) this book was a fun, quick read that will make you think of the world differently.

I had a wonderful time reading this book and I loved sharing the question and answers with Jason, and even my father. While I knew many of the answers in this book, it was fun to have a simple, quick refresher on these answers. This book would be a great coffee table book, a bathroom reader, or even in a teen doctor or dentist office. This would be a great conversation starter at parties and in business meetings. The questions range from the silly to the serious and all in between.

I’ve always asked, Why are some people just born lucky? I mean there are people in the world that work there butts off day in and day out, then there are people who haven’t worked a day in there life but seem to have the material glory of a 100,000 salary.
