Cat Lady Monthly Subscription Box Review and Giveaway
As many of my regular readers will know I am a feline fan. I refer to my 2 feline friends as “The Muggles” and like many owners my phone is full of cat pictures that show their unique and one of a kind personalities. Many people will dispute that cats have facial expressions and to many people if they have seen one, they have seen them all. Since I am review blogger my cats are my writing buddies during the day so I spend many hours with them.
In the past I have been referred to as a “Crazy Cat Lady” due to my love, and slight obsessive nature when it comes to photographs of the cats. I have always found this description offensive due to the fact that just because I love my animals unconditionally does not make me “crazy”. Due to the love I have for the feline species I am also a collector of cat items. I am always on the lookout for something new and cute to add to my collection. In my search I discovered Cat Lady Box.
Cat Lady Box was started with the belief that just because we are cat lovers that does not make us crazy. The goal is to change the perception of what it is to be a crazy cat lady. The premise behind Cat Lady Box is that each month you are sent anywhere from 2-5 items, depending on your box choice. The Cat Lady Box comes with 2-3 cat themed items for humans and the Crazy Cat Lady Box has the items in the 1st box plus 2 surprises for your feline friend(s).
I received the July 2015 box and could not have been happier with the contents (which I will be listing in detail below). There are a couple things that set this box apart from other boxes in the subscription box field. The first thing that sets them apart is that not only did they include a postcard manifest but a letter that gives a little back story on each item contained in the box. The second thing that I think sets them apart is the accessibility of the owner and creator. In the letter the owner invites subscribers to email her, and she will personally respond to each inquiry. I can attest that this is true, I have had a very nice correspondence while preparing this review with her.
The third thing that I think Cat Lady Box does is that it picks quality, thoughtful and unique items for the box. This box is not just a box of kitschy cat items, it a box that you and your cat can enjoy. As an example, this month I received the following in the “Crazy Cat Lady” box:
Original Design T-Shirt: This “MEOW” shirt is not only exclusive to CatLadyBox but also contains a surprise on the back in the form of a tail! This shirt was the winning design in a contest held by CatLadyBox from over 50 entries. There is no other place to get this shirt other than from CatLadyBox. The shirt is not the typical heavy cotton but a flexible soft cotton, and it is an attractive v-neck dark grey shirt.
Ceramic Cat Pendant Necklace: Made by Etsy shop owner Southerngracie, this is a handmade pendant. Inspired to create when her husband made the comment for her to “get creative” with some clay. This is a thoughtful and easy to wear pendant will make any cat fans ensemble complete.
Organic Catnip Lip Balm by Wild Rose: I am going to be honest and say that I was a little apprehensive about using this Catnip Lip Balm around Murfee. The one we call Murfee may or may not have a catnip problem, we are still determining this, and well I did not want to be the guinea pig. I did use it when I left the house and found it very moisturizing. It stayed on my lips and I did not have to reapply it – I just have to be careful when I use it and who is around at the time.
Organic Catnip Fortune Cookie: I love little toys that the cats can carry in their mouths and carry like a “kill” around the house. This is a super cute handmade fortune cookie with cat nip and fortune included. These are made by Miso Handmade, who hand makes gifts for pets and their people. The fortune states “you are adored” which is appropriate for how I feel about the Muggles.
Omega Paw – Meowmosa: These are cat treats with a human twist. These treats are Cocktail-Inspired Treats. The flavor we received was called “Meowmosa” and they are salmon flavored with a hint of orange juice. They are soft treats that are made in the USA. Our little vacuum Maggee enjoyed them but picky Murfee did not, which is to be expected from him.
Postcard – PrintsOfHeart: This is from the featured Cat Lady Artist PrintsOfHeart based in a UK seaside town on the west coast. A graphic artist by day, trade and hobby the artist loves to integrate her cat obsession in all her products.
I feel like this box was made just for me, and that is the final reason why I think they are set apart from other subscription boxes. This is the only box for fans of felines, and they are blazing the trail for cat lady’s to not be classified as crazy, but rather stylish and witty people.
If I could I would give this box to everyone of my cat loving friends, it is that good!

Cat from hell? He terrorizes the neighborhood dogs, and attacks family members without provocation. Somehow we still love him….
We had a kitten like this before Maggee. He was a orange tabby and the MEANEST thing ever!! The tide turned against him the day that he turned against me. My husband was willing to tolerate it but never if it was directed at me. He would swipe and lash out at my husband, be dead asleep and attack my husband and the growling, the constant growling for no reason. We ended up relinquishing him to the shelter as he was a danger to my other cat, and we wanted Murfee to have a buddy so we adopted Maggee. The cat was really evil from day one we just ignored it and thought he would grow out of it – 1.5 years later he did not.
We went back a week later and he had LITERALLY been adopted a hour previous to our arrival. As far as we know he is in a only cat home and hopefully a little less on the growls.
I have two cats right now. A male “maine coon” (mix) and female calico (mix). My maine coon is the most loving and affectionate pet I’ve ever had. He’s more like a dog, than even the 2 dogs I own lol. He wants to be held all the time, and lay across my body if I’m lounging or sleeping. He absolutely adores cat treats, especially “Temptations”. (They’re like a cheapie version of “Greenies”). He gets even MORE cuddley/snuggling when he’s trying to suck up to you for a treat lol. I think he is a treat-a-holic. If we’re out of his treats at home, he whines and cries and paces back and forth. He also paces back and forth (or so I’m told) when it’s time for me to get off work and sits by the front door tilting his head like a dog lol. He also wags his tail, 24 7 non stop, even in his sleep. I know most cats do this when they’re angry but he does it I think like a dog, happy, he especially does it when you fill up his food bowl lol.
My girl is not as interesting, but I love her just the same. She’s just more the normal everyday laid back cat. She likes to be in the same room, but not much for being held or rarely comes up and climbs into a lap the way the male does. She does sometimes approach us and want to be petted, and she makes the goofiest, happiest looking face when you pet her, she closes her eyes, into an “n” shape, and almost looks like she’s smiling lol. She only seeks out affection though once in a blue moon; while the male wants to be the center of attention at all times lol. If theres a door separating me and the male and he hears my voice he starts meowing and scratching the door and trying to stick his paws under the door frame lol.
I love cats and would love this box. Finding cat themed merchandise is hard. Every store carries stuff for dog lovers, but cat stuff is rare to find! 🙂

My cat has multiple personalities, he thinks he’s a prince. He loves sliced turkey as a treat but it can’t be just any turkey it has to fresh sliced from the deli and only a couple of days old. Edgar has his verbal cues messed up when he’s happy rubbing his face on your legs he growls and hisses. Once you figure him out he’s the smartest sweetest cat around.
He’s very sweet and loving.

I operate a small cat rescue, mostly for elderly cats, so I have 13 cats at this moment. But, the only one that we found as a kitten, is named Jeffrey, after Jeff Gordon, the NASCAR driver.

Cleo is definitely the quiet, mellow cat who stays out of trouble for the most part and just sleeps or cuddles us all day and night! Her sister, Riley, is another story. She is loud, wants to be seen and petted at all times. She jumps on the bookshelves and runs around all day and night. She is very energetic and lively. We love them to pieces!

Our cats personality is lacksadaisy and sleep all day and watch the birds.
Napoleon is very lazy. All he likes to do is eat and sleep.
Hobbes is overly affectionate. He’d try to rub his head on you for hours if you let him.
Panakin is like a kid. He always wants to play but can get a little aggressive.
Funny story, there is a well known coffee shop here is town called the Panakin and the funny part is that is where we wrote up our initial offer for our first house!
He’s sweet in his own way but then again he can be very aloof.
Marshmellow is best summed up as part snake, part bunny, part puppy, part velociraptor, part kitten.
How cute is the name Marshmellow!! Is he white? That is quite the combination and I had to laugh at the velociraptor comparison.

When I am home during the day and the hubby is at work I have two shadows, especially if I go in their room which happens to be where all the review items are so it is literally throughout the day!

I have 5 cats- the eldest (only 5 years) is a Maine Coon cat and she acts like the bossy *Alpha* cat, nothing gets passed her- although with me she is very protective & affectionate
and nurturing too.. last year I was sick for a few days with a bad stomach flu and she stayed by my side the whole time

My cat Murfee loves my husband Jason and they have a special relationship – head bumps and lots of lap time.
I have two cats, one of them is kind of a loner – she only likes attention when she wants it. The other one is very needy. She doesn’t really care at all what you are doing she just knows that she wants attention and that is all that matters lol
My cat is very much a diva. She has to have her food a certain way and her water bowl has to be CLEAN in order for her to drink from it. She isn’t scared of our dogs and doesn’t even flinch when they are near or try playing with her. She is so funny. My first baby. I have had her since I was 15, since then, there has been 2 dogs and I have three sons. She’s had to put up with a lot, but always remains loyal to me.

All of my cats are somewhat neurotic (all feral rescues) but the baby is the absolute worst. We found her at about 8 days old and bottle-raised her, and she’s a spoiled brat. Today while sitting on my lap she suddenly lunged and bit me on the lip. BRAT!

Slippers aka Stinky is very clingy now that my other cat passed away. However she is very curious as well and loves exploring. She gets nervous when the doorbell rings but is very assertive when it comes to food, meaning, she is a pig and eats fast. That is how she got her nickname Stinky….eats too fast and passes gas. LOL

Raptor is the most annoying, cute cat ever. she destroys everything, mean to all the other cats, shes a bully

I have 4 cats from 4 to 18 and they are all so playful and want things on there terms so cute.
We have to 11 year old rescue kitties who have been together this they were TINY kittens ~ but the are not related.
One is a Black (and White ) Tuxedo and the female who is all white. The male Tuxedo cat is my baby – but also the dominant of the two that this cat is SO SMART ~ he constantly amazes us. He is also very athletic (though fat!) soft and cuddly and endlessly FUNNY!
The female on the other had ~ is still a kind of recovering feral cat and she it still very skittish. The two cat not only look very different ~ but their personalities are like night and day!
Buffy is a typical Siamese; Timmie is a trouble maker; Sammie is a huger; Trevor is dubious about the entire situation!
