Tips and Ideas: Tiny Tips for Living in a Small Home + Giveaway

If there is any fact that is more true than not is that I am always looking for creative, functional and good looking storage. Since I live in about 800 square feet there is a constant need to find creative ways to find spaces and ways to fill those spaces with storage.
When I saw the storage solutions available from Lush Decor my mind went wild with the additional ways i could add storage and still have the overall esthetic that I want my home to have.
The products featured in this post were provided to me free of charge courtesy of Lush Decor. This post may have affiliate links but this in no way will influence the review to follow and all opinions are my own.
Here are the things that I have learned about living in a smaller home, and maximizing the storage available and how Lush Decor can assist.
Stacking: I have discovered that stacking a nice assortment of decorative boxes can do wonders for storage. I try to coordinate my storage so they all match and label them with the contents. This tends to give everything a home and everything a place.

Re-purpose: I discovered that a ottoman can not only provide functional storage but can also be used as additional seating and, as it is in my house, a perch for cats.
Trash Clutter: We all have it, that clutter that accumulates, Take 10 minutes every day, chose a area of your house and be ruthless – trash what you do not need and find a new home for the items that stay.

Open Boxes: If you have items that you need to access, such as toys, magazines, craft projects, or work projects, an open decorative box is the way to go. This open box makes storage functional, yet easily accessible.
Look Under: Use that space under a credenza and under your bed. Get a couple under the bed boxes and store those winter clothes in the summer and those summer clothes in the winter. I use under our credenza for extra kitchen items, and items that are only used a couple times a year.
Collapse: If all else fails, collapse. One of my favorite items is collapsible bowls, collapsible measuring cups. Since these collapse, they are easily stackable, and easy to store vertically in cupboards.
While living in a small house can at times be a challenge, especially when you are a blogger, there are ways to maximize space while not sacrificing the esthetic of your home. With companies like Lush Decor, you can have storage that keeps that esthetic you desire.
