Stampin’ Up – Stitched with Cheer – Project Kit Review + Giveaway
One of my favorite times of the year is when I start to receive holiday cards. I love to hear from people that I lose touch with throughout the year, and seeing the happy photos.
When I was young I was in charge of the yearly holidays cards and I would look forward to it. Each year I would look forward to choosing the perfect cards for the recipient. I loved verifying addresses and updating my “master list” spreadsheet. I credit this yearly ritual to giving me the handwriting ability I have today. Now that I am older and have a home and “furmily” of my own I tend to do our own holiday cards.
Instead of purchasing cards I tend to make them by hand. I begin my search early in the season and many times I purchase the supplies throughout the year. This year my card making will be made easier since receiving the Stitched with Cheer Project Kit by Stampin’ Up which is a 18 card kit and the perfect way to show my appreciation for friends and family.
The products featured in this post were provided to me free of charge courtesy of Stampin’ Up, but this in no way will influence the review to follow and all opinions are my own.
The Stitched with Cheer Kit allows you to make 18 cards in 3 different designs. Each card has its own special touches that make it perfect for the holiday season.
The following items are included in the kit:
- 18 card bases, folded size 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ (10.8 x 14 cm)
- Envelopes and envelope liners
- Kraft and white card front backers
- Kraft circles and banners
- White banners
- Gold baker’s twine
- Gold and white twine
- Metallic gold thread
- 20 gold adhesive-backed enamel dots
- Burlap ribbon
- Printed die-cut images
- Red and white adhesive pearls
- Gold foil doilies
- 2 needles and 1 needle threader
The stamp set included is versatile and are appropriate for almost any of the upcoming holidays. The Stitched With Cheer Photopolymer Set is a useful assortment of words, designs and shapes that make the options near endless. I do recommend that to keep stamp cleanup easy the use of baby wipes can be used to clean the surface of the stamps. When you use the black ink it is important to note that the ink does have a tendency to stay on the stamp but the wipes seemed to clean them of the residual ink that was left over.
The kit is a combination of areas to stamp greetings that when put together creates a personalized hand-made card as well as various embellishments that make the card unique. I stamped about half the cards with greetings and left the other half blank so that I can stamp them later with the appropriate message.
I had never done any sewing on my cards before so this was a technique that I learned as I went. I wonder why it took me so long – it added a unique element to each card.
The instructions were simple and I was able to follow along, and appreciated the tips included in the instructions. I would recommend that when you poke your holes, if possible use a piercer, it will make the punching much easier. Also if you want to save time, stack the cards, and you can poke through all the cards at once.
While it does take some time to create the cards, I spent about 2.5 hours working on the above 3 cards, it would be easier to complete all of one type at time instead of 3 different ones. That being said it was still a simple kit that produced a extraordinary card.
This kit is the perfect kit to make a wonderful set of holiday cards. In the end this was a simple kit, that had me getting excited about the upcoming holiday and all the mail to be sent.
