Send Me Gluten Free Monthly Subscription Review and Giveaway – May 2015 Box
This month has been one of reflection for me, both of my best friends from high school turned 40. The first one occurred at the beginning of the month, the second happened this past weekend. These birthdays forced me to stop, take a breath and think about my own looming day.
When we are young we do not consider the food we eat and the long-term effects included in that food. We believe we are invincible, that nothing can hurt us and we can eat what we want with reckless abandon. As we get older, we wisen up and start thinking about the future. We begin to live our lives with someone and for some bodies that we love, therefore we want to be healthy.
The wonderful thing about monthly subscription boxes is that it opens my mind to products I would not normally sample. Each month Send Me Gluten Free (SMGF) chooses 8-12 full size items to include in their monthly box, which allow for greater sampling of the available offerings for those with gluten sensitivity or those who just want to eat healthier. They were generous enough to send me the May box to sample and review and included in the box were the following products:
Dare Breton Crackers – I received the Orginal with Flax, although the flax was prominent their flavor was subdued. These crackers were surprisingly tasty, and had no aftertaste at all. They were crunchy and would be really good with cheese slices or a herb dip.
Toufayan Bakeries – In the box was a 6 oz bag of Sea Salt flavored Pita Chips. These would be really good with the included coupon of Hummus, a herb dip or a smoked cheese. I plan on purchasing these for my party in July.
Smarty Pants Adult and Children Vitamins – The adult vitamins were a little sour and the children’s had a sweet coating on them. These would be great for people who would rather chew their vitamins then swallow them and people who do not mind a little sour or sweet with their vitamins.
Bare Belly SPF Lip Balm – This lip balm went on smooth and did not feel heavy on my lips. I love that I can easily protect my lips when that is the only SPF need.
Slender Sticks – Acai Lemonade and Pomegranate Berry – These are powder packets that can be added to a 16oz bottle of water, shaken and then easily drank. Slender Sticks are sweetened with Better Stevia and seemed to be not as sweet as in other Stevia sweetened drinks. Containing 10 super fruits, and 50% of 9 daily vitamins, this is a good alternative to plain water.
Luna Bar – Chocolate Peppermint Stick – I was really surprised by this item. I am usually not a fan of peppermint and really can only have a bit or two before I call Jenga. This did not happen, I shared with Jason and we were both surprised by how good this was. We agreed that we will be buying these in the future.
Sauce Goddess – We received the Super Chunky spice sample, and it was delicious. When I read the ingredients I discovered why it was so good, it included salt, dehydrated garlic, onion spices, mustard seed, fennel, coriander. These spices are gluten-free, has no dairy, no nuts, no preservatives and no additives. I guarantee you will love the smell of this aromatic spice combination.
Walkers Shortbread Cookies – This was another surprise for me, as I have never really liked shortbread cookies, as usually I find them dry and not tasty. I can honestly tell you that these were tasty and did not have the typical gluten-free aftertaste that many products tend to have. I plan on purchasing these and having them around for an easy snack to accompany yogurt.
Also, included were three of coupons which included 2 free item coupons. There were coupons for a free Gorton’s Seafood item and a free Sabra product. Also included was a $1.00 off coupon code for Breton Crackers.
Monthly subscriptions are $19.85/month, $18.85/month – 3 month membership, $16.95/month – 6 month membership, $14.85/month – 12 months membership with an additional $5.00 shipping each month. They currently ship to United States, Alaska, Hawaii and Canada for an additional $3.99.
