Pura Vida “Launch” May 2016 Box Review and Giveaway
Let’s be honest there are many stressors in this world, and living an easy life is increasingly difficult.
There is a saying in Costa Rica – Pura Vida. When translated it means “real living” and is used as a greeting to farewell. This saying can also be used as an answer that all is well, a way to give thanks and showing appreciation.
With the spirit of Pura Vida comes a new box of the same name. Pura Vida is a monthly subscription box that includes Costa Rican coffee as well as handmade bath and body products, as well as healthy snacks and more.
The Pura Vida box officially launched on May 22nd and will contain 5-8 items each box. Included in this inaugural box:
The first item is the Costa Rican Tarrazu Coffee which is 100% Costa Rican coffee that is full bodied and is suppose to have a bold flavor. I have not grinded these, but I expect big flavor. The second item is the Rise Bar – Almond Honey Protein Bar which is made of only 3 ingredients – almonds, honey and whey protein. The third item is was the Nib Mor Organic Chocolate which was sooo good. My husband can be picky on the flavor of his dark chocolate and he loved these.

I am a lip balm fan, as is Jason. One of my favorite things about reviewing is the opportunity to try kip balms that I would not have been able to sample otherwise. Included in this inaugural box was Wild Botanicals Simple Lip Balm, which left my lips soft and smooth. The other item was the Pura Vida Natural Pumice Stone which really made me happy because I have been wanting a pumice stone. This is a great size and fits perfect in the palm of my hand.
I am a soap fan, and I love trying soaps. As a matter of fact, I have amassed quite a bar soap collection since I began this blog and I can honestly say that this Wild Botanicals Organic Coffee Scrub Soap is one of my favorites. The soap is wrapped in a wildflower seed paper which means that you can plant this paper in the ground and get wildflowers. The soap is made of simple ingredients such as organic olive oil, organic coconut oil, castor oil, coffee, organic coffee grounds, pumice, cayenne pepper, and coffee essential oil. This left my hands soft and smooth, and the smell is beyond great! If I were to describe the smell, it has no floral scent, and is a clean and mild scent. At times I do get a smell of coffee, although it is not a strong aroma. Also included was a Handcrafted Reclaimed Wood Soap Dish which is the perfect accompaniment to a bar of soap and makes the use much easier and cleaner.
While the idea of mediation and me are similar to the oil and water concept, I could see that the inclusion of Mediation Mala Beads is right along the lines of the boxes meaning and overall mission.

The other item that I have amassed a nice collection of – candles. This fits me perfect since I really love candles. Included in the box was the Earth Meets Water Leaves of Life Soy Candle, which is a nice addition to this box and matched the mission of the box. This candle smells so good, and I can already tell you I will be sad when it eventually burns down.
I did not know what to expect with this first box and I have to say I was impressed. While the price can be a little surprising the items received in the box are of a high quality and within theme. This is a super fun box that made me feel like I traveled to Costa Rica!

No when you first smell the bar it is a mild soap scent, but as you use it and it dried there is a light coffee aroma. I just loved the way my skin felt when I used it!
