Pet Gift Box – Cat – Subscription Box – August Review
The 1970’s were known for many things including and not limited to the invention of the walk-man (1978), 1st email was sent (1971), E-Commerce was invented by Michael Aldrich (1979) and the rise of disco (1970-1979). Disco took over, the music was infectious as was the lifestyle that accompanied it.
The disco craze was not limited to the music that was played but also the clothes worn, the plans for the weekend and your dance ability. There is no movie from the 1970’s that personifies the 70’s as “Saturday Night Fever“. This movie from 1977 tells the story of a man who spends his weekends at the local discotheque. This movie features the songs of the Bee Gee’s and made Stayin’ Alive what it is today. Given the cultural impact that this movie has had on society it seems appropriate that this months Pet Gift Box theme is “Caturday Night Fever”. The treats included in this months box had a disco and 1970;s theme and included the following:
Cat Dancer – $1.99 : This is basically a 3 ft wire that has a piece of cardboard on one end and 5 rolled up pieces of cardboard on the other end. The pieces give a weight to the end of the “dancer” and with very little effort generates a lot of movement.
Spot LED Motion Activated Cat Ball – $ 4.44: This ball is constant color and constant motion for the cat. The ball is about 2″ in circumference and has a button on the side that activates the color, which is really get the animals attention. The Muggles seemed very interested in the colors but did not bat the ball around as much as I thought that they would.
Amazing Cat Toy – $2.00 : This was like a gift for Maggee alone! Our Maggee loves these mice more than I can express. She loves to bat these little mice around, and these have sparkle added. These mice feature these long whiskers and she loved biting the mice there and carry them around the house. Once she captured the mouse, down went the possessive paw. I am storing the majority of these for when the inevitably get trapped under the couch.
Temptations Mix-ups Catnip Fever – $1.42 : If there ever was a treat that appears was made just for my cats it is this treat. These treats are chicken, catnip and cheddar. Murfee loves them – he should, they contain his 1st love which is catnip and contain his 2nd love, which is cheddar. These were a hit with our little eater Maggee too – although I never had any doubts.
Spot Rockin Laser Cat Toy – $4.54: This is a bird shaped toy that once rocked the laser is activated. As the cat bats the toy around, the laser follows suit and “dances” around. Murfee is not a good of a follower of lasers but Maggee loved it (are you surprised?). I would recommend putting it away when the cats are done playing, I tripped on this more times than I would like to admit.
I loved this box and the 1970’s theme and how they were able to tie the products together to give a real feeling of the decade. From the laser toy, the color ball, the glitter mouse toys to the cat nip treats, and the simplicity of the “dancer”. This box was a wonderfully put together this month! I also love that each month it is addressed to the Muggles – I think they know it is theirs, they get excited when they see the red box!
The total value of this box came to $15.39 vs the $27.99 monthly cost which equals a loss of $12.60! Despite this, the box is amazing in the sense that you feel like you get a good value. I was surprised when I saw that final number as I felt like this was a good deal overall.
Each month you can choose if you want a cat or dog themed box and monthly subscriptions are $29.99/month – pay as you go, $22.99/month – 3 month membership, $19.99/month – 6 month membership, $17.99/month – 12 months membership and shipping is included in the cost each month
