It’s THE Scoop By K-Kat Innovations Review and Giveaway

Scoop Its THE ScoopI love my Muggles, but that is not a surprise for regular readers. These two little furry creatures are Jason and I’s buddies and companions. Jason and I have unspoken but well established responsibilities where Maggee and Murfee are concerned. I like to say that we 50/50 but let’s be honest, the one who cleans the litter box should get a little more of that percentage. In our house that responsibility falls to me, although Jason is completely willing to step in if I am feeling less than motivated to do it.

We are lucky in one respect of the litter box situation, our two cats like to share a litter box. When we adopted Maggee we had a second litter box set up for her, and we had Murfee’s original litter box. We thought for sure that Maggee would love having her own box, she was already showing signs of being a thoughtful and clean cat. We kept the second litter box for almost a month and after nothing more than playing in the pristine clean litter that second litter box did not see much action.

Since the Muggles share a litter box I am constantly cleaning and making sure it is ready for them to use. I recently had the opportunity to try a relatively new product  – it’s THE Scoop. Let me first say that this is one of the best scoops I have ever used. I dislike cleaning the litter box but acutely realize that it must be done for our health and of course their health.

Its the scoop in actionIt’s THE Scoop was on Kickstarter and after making over 3 times their goal and fulfilling all obligations they are now turning their attention to the rescue/retail market.

It’s THE Scoop is not only lightweight but the tines are close together to get the small particles left in the box. This scoop will never rust or be affected by the harshness of cat urine because it is made of zinc coated metal. This was easy to hold, scoops with complete ease and does gets the smaller pellets that get dropped. The other bonus to this scoop is that it does not create any dust (I know you know what I am talking about).

I had read and heard that many people were not happy with the handle and find it a little awkward/difficult to hold – I did not have this problem. Our sweet Maggee is a side of the litter box pee’er and it is usually an awful chore to chip away at the pile left when I clean the box, this scoop made it a breeze. Usually I have the problem of the plastic scoops bending and the metal completely took that problem away. If this scoop needs to be cleaned simple put some dish soap in a bucket, let it soak for a few (not long as you do not want it to have long-term exposure to water lest it could rust) and when you pull it out it should be able to be cleaned. Don’t forget to dry it off before you use it in the litter, or you will be cleaning it all over again.

This is hands down one of the best scoops I have ever used and I wish I could buy them for all my feline guardians – it is THAT good!

My favorite type of litter is the clumping litter, it is a lot easier.

  2. Dana Rodriguez

I use clumping litter for my big mush kitty. Arm&Hammer is my favorite that I have tried so far.

My favorite type of litter is Fresh Step Odor Shield. Not going to lie, one of the main reasons I bought it at first is because the kitty on the box looks like my cat!

  4. Arielle

We use Tidy Cat scoopable litter for my cat. It creates a lot of dust but he won’t use any other kind.

  5. Jennifer Heintz

My favorite type of litter is the clumping type, in the smaller containers so I can handle it.

Definitely the litter has to be clumping litter, but aside from some being a lot dustier than others, I don’t find much difference in the major brands. The problem is, because I switch from one to another due to having coupons, sales, etc., I frequently forget which produces the most dust!

DEFINITELY Clumping/Scooping Litter ~ and as far as brand goes, I always buy whatever brand in on sale so I haven’t quite figured out what my “preferred” (favorite) is (I’m thinking maybe Tidy Cat ~ maybe because that’s what I have right now…

What I have NEVER been able to find (after like 30 years of searching/trying) is a GOOD litter box SCOOPER! I would love to win one these! Thanks.

Lately, I’ve been buying Tidy Cat – it seems pretty good! Any time I find a coupon for a new litter, I’ll try it – I have a LOT of cats!
