Allton Tape: Go Washi –
Projects using Washi Tape and Giveaway!!
Regular readers know that I love to up-cycle otherwise useless items. A couple of years ago my father moved out of the house I grew up in. On the walls were each years school pictures from kindergarten to senior year (1981-1994),
Since these were one the wall, each one was lovingly put in a wooden frame. Each frame varied in size, depending on the picture package chosen that year. What resulted was a “Wall of Jennifer” and almost 13 photo frames that were long overdue to come down off the wall.
At the time I decided to not only take my school photos, but I also took the frames. I knew that one way or another I would reuse these in my crafts. So far they have been recovered, turned in dry erase boards and reused for Jason and I’s photos.
Back in March I had the opportunity to review Allton’s Go Washi Tape and I loved it! Since I am always looking to up-cycle an other wise lifeless items, I decided to do a second round of washi tape projects, with an up-cycled twist.
The products featured in this post were provided to me free of charge courtesy of Allton Tape/GoWashi. This post may have affiliate links but this in no way will influence the review to follow and all opinions are my own.
As I again embarked on my newest Washi tape adventure it became clear that my creative wings would be stretched in ways I had not thought of.
The first project I embarked on was re-covering a box that is used as a holster for a water bottle used in cat discipline. The tape set I used was called Music. Due to the musical nature of the them, this would make for a cute guitar pic collection holder, or even “love notes”. I love the way this looks and it does not seem as out-of-place on the counter anymore.
I also realized that we are coming up on some birthdays and other events so I made a couple of cards. I used 5 different sets for this and going Left top to the Right bottom Butterfly and Glitter, Carnival, the middle is 6mm Glitter, the top right is Japan and the bottom right was Birthday.
The final thing I made was a frame for the photo I took on Jason’s 40th birthday, I was not sure how it was going to turn out and feared that it might distract from the image. As it turned out it added a festive element to an otherwise colorless photo. I used a couple of selections from the Glitter and Memory to make this frame.
I know I have mentioned it before but what is Washi tape exactly? Washi tape is a paper tape, similar to a hand-made paper, that originated in Japan in the mid 2000’s. The best way to think of washi tape is to think of this as similar to a masking tape. The largest difference is that his is a much prettier and much more versatile tape that can be used in decorating and gift wrapping.
Washi Tape is a unique tape that is a combination of bamboo and hemp that is made from the bark of trees native to Japan. The trees used included in washi tape are the Mulberry tree, Mitsumata shrub and Gampi Tree bark.
I absolutely loved GoWashi Washi tape from the wide range of styles to the adhesion it provides!
If you are looking for a high quality tape that has the versatility and the variety I HIGHLY recommend the Allton Tape collection!
