Catzebox 1.0 Review and Giveaway
I am a cat lover and especially a lover of my own cats – Maggee and Murfee. I have mentioned it in the past, but Jason and I adopted them from our local Humane Society. We count this decision as one of the top ones we have made as a couple.
We often talk about what attracted us to each of the cats. Murfee was only a day old when he was found in the middle of an empty field alone (I have said it in the past, and will say again, it is a miracle he survived). The day that we happened to meet him at the shelter, was the day after he was neutered and he was lethargic and tiny! Despite being in pain (they had to give him pain medication – poor thing!), he still wanted to play with us through the cage. I loved this about him, and I knew that he was our cat.
Maggee on the flip side had been taken care of by many people, unable to find a forever home. Our little girl likes to play, and when she opens her mouth, many would think bite – she plays – they cited aggression issues. Jason and I were undeterred and we asked to take her in to the room so that we could get to know her – she jumped into each of our laps, and that was that – she was ours.
Despite the difference in their upbringing, they common thread between them is they are playful kitties – even at almost 4 years old and 3.5 years old. It is easy to get Maggee excited and while Murfee takes a bit to get excited, when he does watch out for claws. Since they are so playful, we are always looking for ways to burn their immense amount of energy, so when I saw the Catzebox, I knew they would love it!
The best way to describe Catzebox is that it is a feline version of a “whack-a-mole”.
First let me tell you that this comes shipped flat, which means that you will have to put it together before it is cat ready. Please, do not feel overwhelmed by having to put this together, it is super simple and amounts to maybe a minute of work.
Once completed and assembled what results is a square box, with a large hole on one side, as well as 2 other sides of holes. One side has 6 holes and another side has 9 holes, which allows for a challenging game for your cat.
It took a few minutes for the two cats to realize what I was giving them, but once they did they were interested. Jason and I often comment that we are lucky that we have such eager players, especially Maggee and this toy is no different. I have to say that both cats tried to climb through the large hole and they were unable to fit. The opening is the perfect size for kittens, but robust adult cats may have a little of an issue.
I just let them investigate the box and after they seemed worn out, I decided to stick a toy through the holes to see if I could snare a cat – I did! I have to tell you that they loved it, and I would recommend that you be very careful when playing. We are lucky in that Maggee realized we are soft and squishy and never hurts us, Murfee does not mean to, but his claws can get us if we are not watching.
After about 45 minutes, both cats were sufficiently tired and both seemed to enjoy the box. I decided to put the box away so that they do not destroy it if they are unoccupied one evening. I would caution you again against using your fingers as bait, this is not good for the cat in that it encourages biting and not good for your hand as cat scratches hurt!
The company that makes this is in Latvia, and they ship worldwide. This is an inexpensive item that will bring hours of entertainment to your cat(s) and it is frequently 50% off the listed price (check the website for current prices – at the time of review this was $3.18 + $2.04 = $5.22)
I would recommend a Catzebox to any cat lover or cat guardian – I know they will love it!
