Whole Note Baking Mixes – Review and Giveaway
I am on a forever quest for a good gluten-free baking mix and so far my journey has showed me the best and the worst that the gluten-free world has to offer.
One of the best places to discover the best of the best is the Natural Products Expo. Each year the gluten-free and natural product companies gather to show retailers, buyers and writers/bloggers their newest offerings.
Once such company that was a company presenting their products was Whole Note Food Company based in Katy, Texas.
Whole Note Food Company is rooted in music and began when the husband in the duo came down with Celiac Disease.
After being diagnosed he set out to recreate the gluten filled treats he loved in gluten-free varieties. The goal was to create the same tastes and textures as the gluten filed counterparts while keeping the ingredients mostly grains as well as nutritious and easy to make.
I had to opportunity to sample three of the mixes that Whole Note Food Company created including Cappuccino & Dark Chocolate Muffin Mix, Pumpkin Bread and Muffin Mix and Create-A-Muffin Mix. The Cappuccino & Dark Chocolate Muffin Mix was a simple mix that was a nice combination of the two main ingredients. These muffins were not grainy and did not leave an after taste.
The Create-A-Muffin Mix begins with a simple vanilla flavored muffin and gives the flexibility to add anything you would like to your muffins. I think that blueberries would be a good addition as well as bananas. I plan to make these for my birthday in a month to give myself a tasty banana muffin. The Pumpkin Bread and Muffin Mix has its fate already mapped out and it is coming in a couple months. I will making this mix during the holidays for a gluten-free bread alternative for our gluten intolerant family members.
These are simple and easy mixes to make and only require eggs, milk and oil, while making 12 muffins per box. Each mix includes a Seven-Whole-Grain Gluten-Free Flour Blend that includes the following grains: Whole-Grain Brown Rice Flour, Whole-Grain Millet Flour, Whole-Grain Buckwheat Flour, Tapioca Flour, Whole-Grain Oat Flour Garbanzo & Fava Bean Flour, Whole-Grain Sorghum Flour, and Whole-Grain Teff Flour.
Whole Note Food has a motto of not giving up until the recipe sings and they have hit all the right notes with these mixes. If you want a gluten-free mix that will make your taste bud sing a high note, try Whole Note’s Baking Mixes!
