True Jerky’s Turkey Jerky Review

True Jerky’s *NEW* Turkey Jerky Review + Giveaway

I have mentioned in the past that one of my favorite things is when companies introduce new products. Since starting this blog I have discovered that jerky is one of my favorite things and that there are as many varieties as I am willing to sample.

As many readers know I am in San Diego, and I am a proud San Diegan. One of the highlights of my reviewing journey is when I have the opportunity to review local companies.

When I attended the Natural Expo West Show in Anaheim last year, I came upon True Jerky (previously known as True Gentleman’s Jerky). The thing that got my attention were the unique flavors and with the new release of their three turkey jerky flavors, my attention has been gotten again.

The products featured in this post were provided to me free of charge courtesy of True Jerky (previously True Gentleman’s Jerky. This post may have affiliate links but this in no way will influence the review to follow and all opinions are my own.

I received a bag of True Jerky’s newest Turkey Jerky gluten-free flavors which included the following:

The Mountie – Maple Glazed Pepper: This is a black pepper and maple syrup combination that also includes a pinch of clove. Also included is unami from soy sauce to complete the flavor. I was expecting more of a sweetness given the maple element. This is a more moist jerky that is also sticky – have a wet wipe near by to keep hands clean.

Pa-le-O.M.G – Spiced Honey: This jerky utilized the sweetness of honey with a unique blend of spices that creates a sweet tasty turkey jerky. I thought this flavor had the perfect amount of sweet, while remaining more on the moist side.

The Jive Turkey – Rebel Coast Winery Citrus Chardonnay: This is a turkey breast that is marinated in Rebel Coast’s Sunday Fundy Citrus Chardonnay which is a pineapple and orange juice combination. While I am normally not a wine fan, this had a nice even flavor that was not to much of the wine flavor, retaining the fruit notes.

True Jerky uses locally sourced beef and contains no nitrates, preservatives, or animal bi-products. The cattle’s beef are fed a 100% vegetarian diet and are not given any antibiotics or growth hormones. All of the flavors were easy to eat, mostly due to the use of the “french-fry” cut, which eliminates the need to rip or tear through a piece of meat. The pieces were the perfect combination of moist to easy in chewing, yet retaining that jerky toughness that is normally associated with beef jerky’s.

Dental Floss EnclosedOne of my favorite features of True Jerky is that with each bag of jerky is DENTAL FLOSS. I loved that they thought ahead for consumers and added something that we all want after jerky, but is inconvenient many times.

Each of these jerky flavors are in resealable bags which keeps the product fresh up to 5 days (1 year if unopened). These new flavors are wonderful additions to the already tasty jerky True Jerky currently makes.

Be sure to check your local stores soon for these new flavors!

Since I am one of the original couch potatoes, I do not really have a favorite outdoor activity, although I will confess to enjoying walking around municipal gardens, etc.
