Gourmet Nuts Review and Giveaway

Gourmet Nut 3 items plus powerupWe are a snack house. I can try to deny it, but the reality of the situation is that we like our snacks. I do have admit that there has been an evolution of our snacks during Jason and I’s time together. When we started dating we would purchase a lot of processed foods and sugary drinks. I think that this was due to the home we were living in was with others, and having such factors as opposing schedules and kitchen restrictions. Shortly after we moved into our first home together and we began to realize that we could eat healthier without the preservatives. This period is marked with a learning curve and a lot of trying new things.

This latest evolution of our snacking is the most exciting and quite possibly the healthiest. When we moved to our current house it was special because it was the first house we bought. With the house came a invigoration to cook and to make our own snacks. This latest progression has been a bit slower to catch on (we like our convenience) but far more fulfilling (nutritiously and emotionally). We tend to like our own food before the previously enjoyed fast food and sugar filled snacks.

We knew we wanted healthy, natural and few preservatives and sugars as possible when we began our transition. In the preparation of this new culinary phase of our lives we came upon Gourmet Nut. Gourmet Nut was created when a bunch of friends got together and discussed the lack of high quality, everyday gourmet snacks. People who love good food as much as we are learning to, that was something that I can support.

In this transition I have found that I really enjoy nuts and have recently become a fan of the combination of fruits added in with the nuts. I was given the opportunity to sample and review the following varieties:

Gourmet Nut Almond Cranberry Crunch closeupAlmond Cranberry Crunch: This comes in a 14 oz bag and comes with almonds, cranberries, raisins and peanuts. I would say that there is a good ratio of ingredients in this mix. I am not normally a fan of raisins (dried grapes are not my thing) but these combined with the nuts made the taste of the raisins more of a side note then a primary player.

Gourmet Nut Banana Bites close upGourmet Trail Bites – Bananas & Dark Chocolate: Dark Chocolate and Bananas – need I say more?? This comes in a 6 oz package and has about 6 servings making it 1 oz/per serving. The best way to describe these is that they resemble rice crispy treats flavored with banana. One end is coated in about 1/4-1/3 dark chocolate which adds a pop of sweet. These were so good I wish I could let each one of you try one. They were a jackpot find!

High Energy Mix Gourmet NutHigh Energy Mix: This mix was very good (if you have not figured it out yet, I like bananas). This mix contains so many good things including pineapple, banana chips, raisins, apricots, Brazil nuts, walnuts, cashews and papaya. I had never tried freeze-dried papaya, and it was really good. This was a perfect mix to snack on throughout the day.

Each of the flavors I tried were gluten-free and vegan, as are all of Gourmet Nut’s other products. Gourmet Nut also carries a wide variety of salts as well as nuts. The salt varieties that they carry range from Sonoma Sea Salt, Himalayan Pink Salt, Sel Gris French Sea Salt, French Mediterranean Sea Salt, Alaea Hawaiian Sea Salt, Northwest Alderwood Smoked Sea Salt and Hiwa Kai Hawaiian Sea Salt. These look as good as they sound, and I plan on purchasing a couple of these for our cooking adventures.

Gourmet Nut also carries health seeds such as Chia, Hemp and Flax Seeds as well as a full variety of snacks for on the go such as wasabi peas, ginger slices, dry roasted edamame, sunflower seeds and veggie chips. If you are looking for a healthy, easy, nutritious snack I would highly recommend Gourmet Nuts.
