Peaches & Petals Subscription Box – May 2016 Review

Peaches & Petals Subscription Box – May 2016 Review

When I was young I thought that parties were the best things ever with their combination of people, food and gifts.

I have had a birthday party for every major birthday starting from 6 years old and going up until my 40th last year – so far. My most memorable party that I have thrown has to be Jason’s and I reception. Well, in reality is was a catered backyard affair with wedding themed decorations. I made everything from the “congratulations” sign to the favors at the table – everything done by me in my vision.

I love to celebrate and have had parties for EVERY milestone in my life including graduation, birthdays and everything in between. As we approach my birthday again this year I am beginning the consideration process of how I plan to celebrate to when I saw the May Peaches and Petals box I was filled with ideas. The boxes contents all revolve around the “Let’s get Together” theme and are appropriate, and useful while remaining in theme.

Peaches and Petals is a monthly box that caters to ‘fun, flirty, fashionable vintage and modern lifestyles’. As a subscriber each month you will receive 3-5 items that have been hand selected personally by the Peaches and Petals team. The included items range from books, household items, gift items and are usually within a monthly box theme. There can be other items included, depending on the box and theme for the month.

I have been lucky to be able to review this for the past couple months (see previous box reviews here) and I can honestly say that the further it goes the better the boxes get. Each month they strive to make sure the items are useful, stylish and high quality while maintaining the thematic feeling.

The box was full of party and “get together” themed items, and included the following within the “Let’s Get Together” theme including:

Spoon serving Set out of packageParty Tasting Set: I will be honest and say we watch A LOT of Food Network around here. One of the things that always gets our attention is the presentation of the meals of the judges. I have seen a variation of this spoon foods presentation and have always liked it, so I am thrilled to have my own set.

Napkins and Cutting BoardMelamine Cutting Board and Cocktail Napkins: I love cutting boards and if they are presentable for presentation than even better! This is a thin cutting board, but being made of melamine makes this a strong board (I decided to drop it a couple of times and each drop it survived). Also included is a set of cocktail napkins, which I use for decoration and display. These are a throw back to the “Mad Men” era, and I love the cheeky sentiment on them.

Paper MedalionsPaper Medallions: Since I am a decoration fan, I LOVED these! There is a DIY element involved, but the instructions are clear and easy.

Chalboard Pennant KitPennant Banner: This is another decoration, and equally cute and equally as DIY inspired. This works two ways – the first being put the chalkboard circle on the colored side or flip the colored side over and wrote directly on the pennant. Which ever way you decide to utilize this, I know you will love it.

Chalkboard Arrow Party KitChalkboard Arrows: I am a member of a big family and with a big family comes big parties and A LOT of them! The most recent big party was a wedding and sadly, Jason and I were unable to make the trek north to attend, but lucky for me social media exists. Within minutes of “I Do” there were postings – these cute arrows were used and I loved them. I am thrilled I have a set of my own. These are easy to use, and just require rubbing the included words on the arrows.

Straw messagesParty Straws: As much as I love parties, there is one downside – random half drank drinks. While these cute straws will not prevent that from still being a downside, it makes it a little easier. I love the positive messages and the coordinating straw colors.

Charades the 70's versionParty Game: 70’s Charades: What’s a party without a party game. The most difficult part of parties is when you have an awkward silence between guests. I have found a good game to break the ice is always helpful, plus it is a nice end when you have the party faithful still there and you want a nice way to close the evening.

Jason has made comment that I like the “concept of parties better than the party itself” and he might be right. I love the planning, the invitations, the responses – yea or nay, the food prep/purchasing and even the arrivals. Generally I start to peter out after everyone has arrived and I know the party went off without a hitch. It makes me wonder if I should have just been a party planner.

Coming in June the theme is “Under the Boardwalk” – comment below what you think might be included within this theme.
