Peaches & Petals Subscription Box – February 2016 Review

Peaches & Petals Subscription Box – February 2016 Review and Giveaway

Peaches and Petals February 2016I will be honest and let you in on a secret – it takes a lot to really impress me and make me giddy with excitement. One of these things that does accomplish this is candy scented products. I love the smell of sugar and sweet and the sweetness it evokes. I have never been a girly-girl, but there is something that is not girl, but nostalgic about candy.

With the right piece of candy, or smell, it can take you back to a time long forgotten. The memories we have can be evoked by smell, and most of us have a sweet memory tied to a sweet smell.

Since February is the month synonymous with sweetness and love, I loved seeing the February Peaches and Petals box. In case you are wondering, Peaches and Petals is taking the concept of a monthly subscription box with value and making a monthly lifestyle box.

This is a monthly box that caters to ‘fun. flirty, fashionable vintage and modern lifestyles’. What this means is that as the subscriber each month you will receive 3-5 items hand selected by the Peaches and Petals team. The items can range from books, household items, nail polish, makeup, scarves or/and something you never imagined. Additional and other items can be included, depending on the box and theme for the month.

I have been lucky to be able to review this for the past couple months (see previous box reviews here) and each box is better than the previous. Each month it is obvious that it that they strive to make sure the items are useful, stylish and relevant and of high quality. It is continues to be obvious that Peaches and Petals is doing things different.

The box was full of sweet themed items, and included the following within the “How sweet it is” theme:

Cupcake workWill Work for Cupcakes Print: This is a canvas like print that is 8 x 8 print that is as cute and box appropriate as you can get. From the sticker on the back it appears as though this was available at Target at some point, if not originating from there. This was hung almost right away, and it sits wonderfully on the wall. The color works great with my house colors, and speaks the truth – I will work for cupcakes. This was a varying item in each box and could have included heart shaped cooking tools, a whoopie pie cookbook and misc other sweet themed items.

Pillow in ActionLove Themed Throw Pillow Cover  – This was the teased for item from January. I thought that this would be not nearly as soft as it ended up being. I am lucky that since I live at the beach my colors focus more on the natural and earth tones so almost everything works color wise. My couch is a dark brown and this was a nice offset to the dark, and brought in some light. A great addition to my house!

Sugar Spun CandleSweet Spun Sugar Candle – This is a soy candle, which means that is clean burning. I mentioned earlier in the review that I love sweet smells, and this candle fits that bill. This smells so good and when I need a sweet pick-me-up, this will be the candle I burn.

Lip SmackersGirl Scouts – Lip Smackers: These are so cute, and I never knew they existed! This is inspired by those yearly cookies and come in Chocolate Peanut Butter, Thin Mints and Coconut Caramel Stripes. I was a Girl Scout when I was in the 5th grade (Troop 4355) and I love selling cookies and I loved the acquisition of badges. I had forgotten that love until I smelled this and evoked that sweet memory.

Love Bird Salt and Pepper ShakersLove Birds – Salt and Pepper Shakers: These are so darn cute, although I would have liked if they were a little larger, as this would barely be enough salt and pepper for a party of 4 or more. Despite this, I LOVED these and even Jason noticed how cute they would be for a dinner party.

Slightly MeltedSlightly Melted – Shower Mochi: If you are like me you had no idea what a Shower Mochi was, but once I read, i became addicted. Basically it is a compact oat scrub that is scented, in this case like Cotton Candy and Orange Creamcisle, that you use to exfoliate your skin in showers. This dissolved easy and my skin felt so good after use! These are made by Etsy seller Slightly Melted who carries a range of bath items.

I will be honest and tell you that I receive a diverse selection of boxes each month, and each month I look forward to getting my Peaches and Petals Box!! This month Jason commented that this box always makes me happy and is a great value – which is saying something that a man noticed!

Gardenias remind me of the time my mamma and daddy went to their high school reunion. They were both dressed up for the occasion. My daddy surprised mama with a gardenia corsage that smelled so good. It is the only time I remember my daddy doing anything like that.

Food smells… any Italian dishes. And also Turkey dinners. I do enjoy vanilla scents, though, as well.

Citrus-based smells instantly perks up my mood as does the smell of freshly baked goods; mom did a lot of baking when I was a child and I remember coming home to the warm, welcoming aroma of cakes/bread and such.

The smell of chilie! My mom makes the best home made chillie… so when I walk into a house and it smells like it I just wish I was back in my mom’s kitchen talking to her as she cooked. I miss times like that!

Grilled cheese sandwiches, because my mom used to make it for me all the time.
