GoodOnYa Bars and Drinks Review and Giveaway!
Health conscious is not a quality many of my family and friends would use to describe me. I generally avoid anything natural, always choosing the over processed counter part. In high school my friends recall stories of me bringing an entire box of chips in the morning to school and by afternoon the chips were reduced to only crumbs. As a teenager and young adult I was gifted with a high metabolism which made gaining weight nearly an impossible task. Somewhere in my mid to late 20’s my metabolism changed and all of a sudden I found myself gaining weight. As I creep closer to my 40th birthday I am finding that, not only can I gain weight, but also keep the weight I currently have. This usually results in a no loss/no gain situation which has made me start watching what I eat since it seems to stay with me for a while.
I happened upon GoodOnYa bars while I was strolling through my local Whole Foods store. While I was looking at the packaging I not only saw that they were Non-GMO, USDA Certified, Gluten-Free but had a new great taste! The packaging of the bars came in bright colors (brown, orange and yellow with a blue background) that immediately draws your eye. I also noticed that the drinks were also labeled with coordinating colors to the drink inside, also drawing the eye to the product.
When I reached out the company they were generous enough to send me a box for review.
The box I received was heavier and larger than I anticipated. Once I opened the package I saw what attributed to the added weight, it was each of their drink offerings and bars. They also included 2 stickers reminding me “you matter” which is a wonderful reminder in a world that often forgets that everyone does matter.
The company sent me 1 of each of their GoodOnYa hydrate drinks and each of their bars to try: Organic Lemons – contains 10% juice, 1 gram of sugar from organic juice and the herb stevia to sweeten, Organic Berries – contains 14% juice as well 5 grams of sweetening stevia, Organic Oranges and Pineapples – contains 12% juice and 5 grams of stevia for sweetening. Each bottle is lettered in colorful attention-getting colors that coordinate to the fluid inside the bottle such as the orange pineapple was orange, the lemons were a pale yellow and berries come in a deep cranberry color.
The 1.75 oz bars are also packed with goodness: the Breakfast bar is made of hemp, flax, brazil nuts and coconuts, contains 2500 mg Omega-3’s , the Peanut Butter Chocolate bar is made of crunchy peanut butter, raw honey, sesame and hemp seeds and dark chocolate, contains 1620 mg Omega 3’s, and the Peanut Butter Raw Honey bar is made of crunchy peanut butter, raw honey, ground flax, sesame and hemp seeds, vanilla contains 1770 mg Omega-3’s. Each bar contains Celtic Sea Salt and each is certified organic.
The company’s slogan is “Every Ingredient Matters, because YOU Matter!”. For many companies this could just be a catchy tagline, but for GoodOnYa every ingredient does matter. The company was founded by a former US Olympic Athlete, Kristen Buchanan, who believes in not using any soy in her products. The ingredients are pure, do not use fillers and are all natural. Instead of using refined sugars and high fructose corn syrups to sweeten, GoodOnYa uses natural sweeteners such as honey, pure maple syrup and pure cane sugar.
It is obvious when you take a drink or take a bite of a GoodOnYa products that they were made with pure fresh ingredients. The Organic Lemon reminded me of the days when you squeezed a fresh lemon, added some water, sweetener and played until dark. By far and away my favorite was the Peanut Butter Chocolate bar, I will be purchasing a case of these to have around. The peanut flavor is the first thing you notice followed by the chocolate and then finally a pop of honey at the end that is like a sweet finale.
If all the above is not awesome enough they will send someone you love a bar to show them that they matter, click here. We need more companies like this, they know that it is not always about the numbers but instead what the ingredients are.
