Fun and Friendly Calligraphy For Kids Review

Fun and Friendly Calligraphy for Kids: A Hands-On Guide to Creative Lettering Review + Giveaway

When I was young I had a lot of energy and not many places to direct it. Each year I write cards and notes, and each year I strive to make my handwriting better. I am always looking for books and step-by-step instructions to extend those skills. When I recently I received a copy of Fun and Friendly Calligraphy for Kids: A Hands-On Guide to Creative Lettering by Virginia Lucas Hart for review I was excited to perfect my abilities for future cards.

Creating Art with Diamond Dotz and 5D Diamond Painting

Everything You Need To Know About 5D Diamond Facet Art

This post may have affiliate links but this in no way will influence the post to follow.

Since I was young I have enjoyed crafts and I love discovering new skills and techniques to add to my growing list of skills.

Recently I discovered a new craft that uses resin facets to create a variety of different works of art – Diamond Painting. This relaxing and easy craft goes by a couple of names including 5D Diamond Painting, Facet Art, Crystal Art, Diamond Embroidery and Diamond Dotz.

The best thing about this craft is that with little instruction a magnificent piece of art is created! One thing I appreciate about Diamond Painting is the simplicity and ease – you simply grab a stylus, pick up a facet diamond and place it on the predetermined place.

Here I will show you what typically comes in a kit, tips for keeping those ‘diamonds’ safe and the best way to work through your projects in addition to some tips I have discovered to make this craft even more enjoyable.

The shimmer and shine is created by the flat facets on the geometric shapes, and the cuts allow each edge to reflect light.

Brush Pen Lettering Review

Brush Pen Lettering: A Step-by-Step Workbook for Learning Decorative Scripts and Creating Inspired Styles Review + Giveaway

As much as I love review blogging there is another thing I love to do – write and send cards to loved ones.

I believe that the art of handwriting is slowly being eliminated from the skills people hold. Instead of being able to do clean brush lettering, people strive to have the most words typed from their smart phones.

Each year I write cards and notes, and each year I strive to make my handwriting better. I am always looking for books and step-by-step instructions to extend those skills. When I recently I received a copy of Brush Pen Lettering: A Step-by-Step Workbook for Learning Decorative Scripts and Creating Inspired Styles by Grace Song for review I was excited to perfect my abilities for future cards.

Deflecto Caddy and Carousel Organizer Review

Deflecto Caddy and Carousel Organizer Review and Giveaway

Caddy and CarouselI recently took up a new hobby – sewing. When I was purchasing my sewing machine I made sure to do my research and make sure the machine I chose had the stitched and features I wanted. I carefully chose those first fabrics, and the matching threads. I read the patterns instructions from beginning to end, and cut the pattern with nothing less than perfection. I purchased the supplies and felt confident that first time I sewed.

With all the things that I did do, there is one things I DID NOT do – storage for all the accessories I would need as a sewer. As a sewer there is a need for thread storage, sewing machine accessories, scissors, and other implements and notions. When Shoplet reached out to me about reviewing the Deflecto Stackable Caddy Organizer and the Rotating Carousel Organizer, I realized that this could be the storage I failed to get the first time around.

Little Pink Ladybug Bow Making System Review

Little Pink Ladybug: Brilliant Bowmaker – Ultimate Kit Review and Giveaway

Everything CreatedI have a confession – I am a ribbon addict. I love to collect ribbon and I love to acquire ribbon. In my craft room I have a clear storage box that is full of random lengths, textures and designs of ribbon. If I am in the store and I happen to see a ribbon that catches my eyes, it is a safe assumption that a couple of yards will be added to my collection.

Ribbon Assortment 1The origination of the ribbon collection are a bit murky, but if I had to guess it was due to my love of scrapbooking and gift wrapping. Now, despite having all this ribbon at my disposal, I rarely find uses for it, which is a sad reality that I strive to change with each craft project I take on.

The thing that I love the most about crafting is the constant use of different textures and mediums – ribbon included. There is no place that this fact than at the annual Craft and Hobby Mega Show, and the various vendors displaying their own take on creativity. While there I had the opportunity to see Little Pink Ladybug and their solution to all the ribbon I currently am collecting.

My Paper Pumpkin December 2015 Review

My Paper Pumpkin December 2015 Kit Review and Giveaway

One Great Year KitI have a “New Years” confession for you – despite my best intentions I always want to make a calendar for our house but I rarely finish in time.

Let’s roll back the clock one year ago and my wide-eyed optimism. I gathered all the materials I needed in order to create a calendar that would be used the next 12 month of our lives. In theory it would be packed with dates, moments and more memories than the days can handle. I plugged away and after about 6 hours I had a perfect acceptable homemade calendar that would fit perfect in the space I had in mind. I was proud and could not wait until I could use it and fill the days.

The reality of the matter is that despite my efforts there were a couple of months were the previous month lingered longer than it should have and a lot of space that stayed blank. I decided that for the new year coming I would still make a calendar but I would scale down my expectations.

As we begin this march into the new year this months My Paper Pumpkin kit arrived at the perfect time. As if again Stampin Up knew the projects in my mind the box for December was called “One Great Year” and provided the perfect calendar for the coming year.

My Paper Pumpkin August 2015 Kit Review and Giveaway

My Paper Pumpkin August 2015

This past holiday season we were at our cousins house, as he has recently taken over as official Christmas Eve host. While we were getting drinks I looked up and discovered the cutest tins with chalk writing announcing its contents. I mentioned that I loved the kitchen decorations and the hostess mentioned she was loving the chalk look and she wanted to expand upon it. When I received the August My Paper Pumpkin kit I was immediately brought back to that conversation.

I had the chance to review My Paper Pumpkin’s kit box’s previous months box (click here). I was thrilled to be given the chance to review this months box as well. The theme for August was called “Chalk It Up To Love”.
