Mix It Up This School Year with Whole Note Foods Muffin Mix Giveaway
In the busy mornings, having easy and healthy food to eat in the mornings can make the difference between a mediocre day and a terrific day. One of my favorite morning snacks is muffins. Muffins are easy to eat, easy to grab and easy to store on the go. One of my favorite muffin’s blueberry and banana. The potassium in the bananas and the antioxidants in blueberries make a great AM punch.
A couple years ago I discovered Whole Note Food Company and with their Create-a-Muffin Mix I can make any muffin I want. Just in time for back to school one winner will have their choice of 3 boxes of mixes and add to your morning routine.
Each day should have an element of pure randomness and fun. This can be from paying it forward to the person in front of you or this could be a visit from an old friend. The best way to have some randomness is in the mail – each day is different and sometimes random and a surprise.
Each month when I receive the Monthly Mystery Box of Awesome by That Daily Deal.com my love of randomness is fulfilled. Each month no theme is chosen for this monthly box, but rather a selection of random gender neutral items that will undoubtedly meet a need of yours or a lucky recipient that you were unaware you had.
Simple Mills: Ready-to-Eat Cookies – Double Chocolate, Toasted Pecan and Chocolate Chip Cookies Review + Giveaway
This past March when I attended the Natural Products Expo one of my favorite booths was the Simple Mills booth. The booth was bright, inviting and just simple. That is what I enjoy about Simple Mills. This is a company that keeps it simple, while providing a tasty product.
During the expo, I had the opportunity to sample a couple of products, and when I saw that they had a new cookie line, I knew I wanted to investigate further. I inquired to Simple Mills so that I could sample their new cookie’s and when I reached out they were generous enough to send me a their newest sweet offering.
When i think of the the holidays, I think of a potluck style meal, where everybody brings their favorite side dish.
A couple of years ago I got over zealous and made over 7 different types of bread. I searched online, pinning boards and my bread recipe collection. I ended up making a couple of pumpkin bread’s, a couple of banana bread’s, a cranberry-apple bread, and a zucchini bread. The process was laborious and as one baked, another would be loaded into the oven.
Since that holiday, each time there is a potluck, I am the “official” bread baker of the family. With the added awareness of gluten sensitivities, my once simple bread making process has changed and I end up making 1/2 of the breads gluten-free.
With my bread making duties starting and the holidays approaching, I am looking for time-saving ways to create many loafs, minus the work. One way I have learned to save time is to purchase the “base” of the bread from Whole Note Food Company, and add the fresh fruits and vegetables to the mix prior to baking.
Pet Treater Monthly Subscription Box Review – October 2016
It is official – Meadow is 1 year old!
Since her birthday just passed I feel it appropriate to commemorate the last year of her life. In the past year she has seen the vet a couple times, she has recently discovered the dog park and other “doodles” just like her! She loves my father and my father sure does love her, and it is reflective each time I see the two of them interaction.
My favorite thing about Meadow is that she has learned that I am her human sister and when I call I always get a bark! When I saw this months Pet Treater and the theme “Barktober Fest“, it seemed appropriate with her one year of life. Continue reading →
Simple Mills: Chocolate and Vanilla Frosting Review and Giveaway
As I have gotten older I have realized that there are few things that I can make better than I can buy. One of these items is baked goods – almost everything I make tastes better than what I can otherwise purchase.
Upon this revelation I immediately went to the store and I began stocking up on baked goods. I purchased flour, sugar, baking powder and extracts of every flavor. I excitedly came home and decided to make brownies. I was under the belief that just simple plain brownies would suffice, but I was quickly informed that frosted brownies are better.
I have mentioned in the past that one of my favorite things as a blogger is when I company that I have worked with in the past, increases and expands their product offerings. Since I suddenly found myself in a frosting-less situation I inquired to Simple Mills so that I could sample their new frosting’s and when I reached out they were generous enough to send me a their newest sweet offering.
Simple Mills: Fine Ground Sea Salt and Cheddar Almond Flour Crackers Review and Giveaway
As the summer sun sets, also comes the time for evening entertaining. A popular evening activity is watching the sun set with a bottle of win and crackers. For the gluten sensitive this can be a less than enjoyable experience.
One of my favorite things as a blogger is when I company that I have worked with in the past, increases and expands their product offerings. Recently I inquired to Simple Mills for a possible giveaway and I was pleasantly surprised to learn that they had added crackers to their already successful mixes. When I reached out they were generous enough to send me a sample of their crackers.
I am on a forever quest for a good gluten-free baking mix and so far my journey has showed me the best and the worst that the gluten-free world has to offer.
One of the best places to discover the best of the best is the Natural Products Expo. Each year the gluten-free and natural product companies gather to show retailers, buyers and writers/bloggers their newest offerings.
We are coming upon the season of baking and the decorating of the baked treasures. I recall one year I bought a bunch of cookie decorating supplies for a party we were intending to attend. Once we arrived we were told that the little boy had gluten sensitivities and since we could not verify the origins of the supplies we had to err on the side of caution and not decorate.
This particular experience got me thinking, and as disappointed as I was after all my preparations, I began thinking how disappointed that little boy would have been to be left out. I wish I knew then what I know now about gluten, sensitivities and the true holiday spirit.
Since we are upon that season once again, I began looking for companies that were as simple on ingredients as possible, mostly with the goal of not excluding anyone in cookie decorating. I was thrilled when I discovered Simple Mills, and their simple mixes. When I reached out they were generous enough to send me a sample of their mixes, as I still want flavor with my treats.
Let me start by saying that the products featured in this post were provided to me free of charge courtesy of Nielsen-Massey Vanillas. This post may have affiliate links but this in no way will influence the review to follow and all opinions are my own.
Nielsen-Massey Vanillas – Vanilla Extract Review and Giveaway
When I was a teenager one of my favorite things to do was bake. I would always invite one of my two best friends over to my house, and that is where they would stay. My friends would come home with me on a Friday afternoon and go to school with me Monday mornings. I grew up an only child, so this gave me a feeling that I had two sisters. During the weekend it was inevitable that we would bake cookies or a cake – it was constant. I have gotten older I no longer have those weekend long slumber parties (do doubt a relief to Jason). The other thing I no longer do it bake every weekend. This lack of baking is not because I do not enjoy it, but more that life gets in the way.
These days the only baking that gets done is the occasional cookies – which usually involved assistance from Jason. There is an exception to this and that time is approaching – the holidays! Each year I bake an assortment of breads for our family and friends to enjoy. This year I am moving on from my generic vanilla I normally use.
I recently received a 2 ounce bottle of Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla by Nielson-Massey Vanillas. This vanilla is Non-GMO, Kosher, gluten-free, all-natural and allergen free. This is a pure vanilla extract that is made using their proprietary cold extraction technique. The cold extraction technique that is used draws out the over 300 flavor compounds, while preserving the vanilla. This pure extract is available in 2 oz., 4 oz., 8 oz., and an industrial size 32 oz bottles.
