The New Primal: Jerky and Sticks Review
I am not going to lie, if I have the opportunity to review jerky or a meat stick, I generally jump at the chance. I have discovered that there is nothing better than having a infusion of protein during the day. Generally, it is filling and tides me over until dinner in the evening.
When I was approached to review The New Primal and their jerky and meat stick assortment, I was intrigued since they have some flavors I had not seen before.
The products featured in this post were provided to me free of charge courtesy of Groundswell Public Relations/The New Primal. This post may have affiliate links but this in no way will influence the review to follow and all opinions are my own.
I received a an assortment of The New Primal Jerky and Sticks including the following –
The first items that I tried were the Jerky. The first one was the classic and basic Classic Original Beef Jerky which was a simple jerky that did not have a ton of flavor. The Classic Free Range Turkey was good, but a bit on the drier side which required more chewing. I was curious how the Date & Rosemary Free Range Chicken Jerky would be, and I was pleasantly surprised. The flavor of Rosemary was prominent and left not doubt that it was included. The Spicy Beef Jerky was a bit spicy for my otherwise sensitive stomach, but it was good, if not a little spicy for me.
I was also given the opportunity to try the sticks of which had some interesting and new flavors. The Classic Beef Stick were a simple and basic and an adequately moist beef stick. Similar to the jerky, the Spicy Beef Stick was a bit on the spicy side for me, but I still ate 1/2 of it (my stomach thanked me later). The Classic Turkey Stick tasted similar to the beef, and was just as good. The Habanero Pineapple Beef Sticks were very flavorful, and I tasted more of the Habanero, than the Pineapple, which i would have liked to see reversed. The Cilantro Lime Turkey Stick tasted of lime which was a nice contrast to the cilantro. I loved this stick, and it is one of my favorites. The BBQ Pork Sticks as well as the Uncured Bacon Pork Sticks were my favorite. The BBQ had a great flavors, as did the Bacon – these were my favorites of the sticks I sampled.
Each of these have zero sodium, no soy, are gluten-free, no sugar, no preservatives and no contain no nitrates. This Paleo friendly brand treats their beef humanly and are pasture raised, hormone free, as well as being antibiotic free and only eat Non-GMO contaminated grass.
Prior to this review, I had not had the chance to try The New Primal and I am very pleased that I did. I am a person that likes a wide variety of brands and foods, so having another brand I like in my flavor arsenal is a good thing.
