InStyle Parties: The Complete Guide to Easy, Elegant Entertaining All Year Round – Review & Giveaway

Ever since I was a teenager I have loved planning parties. There is only one problem – I have a great idea but my execution always seems a bit off my imagination. I start off with lofty ideas, pinterest boards and boundless motivation, but I always fall short.

With the season of entertaining upon us I know I could use any party planning help I can get. With that said, I was thrilled when I saw the new book InStyle Parties: The Complete Guide to Easy, Elegant Entertaining All Year Round by the Editors of INSTYLE.

The products featured in this post were provided to me free of charge courtesy of Oxmoor House. This post may have affiliate links but this in no way will influence the review to follow and all opinions are my own.

I received a copy of InStyle Parties: The Complete Guide to Easy, Elegant Entertaining All Year Round by the Editors of INSTYLE. This is a 15 idea book that gives ideas for dinner, game day parties and holiday activities.

Each party included in the book contains a menu of recipes that includes a signature cocktail, an invitation, tabletop ideas, suggestions for party favors and a timeline of events. Each recipe is clear to read, and easy to follow and for some include full color photos. The editors get in on the fun and share tips of how to pair wines, and creating a perfect cheese plates. There are over 100 sources in this book for entertaining.

There is no shame in admiting we sometimes need party planning help, and with the InStyle Parties: The Complete Guide to Easy, Elegant Entertaining All Year Round you will get that help without the shame.

I’m going to go with the surprise birthday party my sister threw for my Mom a couple of years ago. My sister had terminal cancer, but was determined to make it happen. My Mom’s b-day is 3 days after Christmas. We planned the usual family Christmas get-together that is always held between Christmas and New Year’s Day. My sister-in-law hosted. Although she was quite ill, my sister planned the whole thing and told my sister-in-law what she wanted her to do. Somehow my Mom never even suspected a thing and she truly was surprised. I love it that my sister was thinking about my Mom like that in her last months of life.

The most memorable party I ever went to if my wedding if that counts. It had the special event of my husband and I getting married but also all the special foods and people that are important to us were included.

“What was the most memorable party you have been to? What made it memorable?” A reception for an author talk. There were little canapes with turkey and–get this–kiwi fruit! It was wild!

I went to a costume party that was a lot of fun. What made it memorable was the menu and attention to detail.

I’m not sure, probably my Aunt’s birthday party or my bridal shower. Both had good food, a good selection of people and were well decorated.
