The Incredibly Way This Journal Was Returned To Me
Almost a decade ago my life was very different than it is today. I was married to another man and desperately unhappy. When the ultimate end happened and we separated I was forced into putting almost all of my personal effects into storage, and because of the frantic nature of our separation I had to put everything in boxes for a undetermined amount of time. I had about 28 days to find a new home for me and my beloved cat Sebastian which was 190 miles and 3 hours from where I was currently living. To say I was under a time deadline is a understatement.
When the word routine pops in your head, I am sure you are thinking of the definition which is defined as a sequence of actions regularly followed; a fixed program.
A couple of weeks ago I woke up early to take my father to the hospital for what should have been a routine procedure to improve blood flow in his lower legs. The main reason I thought this would be so routine was that he had literally had the same surgery with spectacularly positive results a couple weeks prior. This first surgery started at 8 and by 9:30 I had a call that he would be released around noon.
When we entered the hospital and began to repeat the same process we had 14 days prior, I was worried but mainly was looking forward to the process being over, and having my father healthy again.
I stayed with him until the last moment when they wheeled him away and decided that I would pick up some donuts for the nurses (it happened to be Nurses Appreciation Week) to deliver when I returned to pick him up. I drove home wondering if I was making the right decision to leave, wondering if I was really treating this as routine, and not giving in the thought and seriousness I should. Should I stay? Should I go home? I wrestled with that decision and in the end decided to head home.

There are no doubts that I am a fan of my pets! For as long as I can remember I have wanted to dress the cats up. I attempted to make Maggee a Ladybug costume this past Halloween, and I always use a cute hat for Murfee, but this it mostly because I have not found the perfect costume, until now!
A Month Later .. The 7 Items I am Still Thinking About From Expo West 2017
Attending an expo or trade show can be overwhelming to say the least, and it is a lot of information and products to see. This yearly event is held in Anaheim California, has over 80,000 attendees, and over 3,100 exhibitors – that is a lot of people to talk to and meet.
As you walk the floor, the colors, sights and samples are abundant, and favorites emerge. At times the favorites become clear once you are back home enjoying the take away sample. It is in that spirit that I wanted to share my favorite finds from the Natural Products Expo 2017.
As an actively pitching blogger, I have found that one of the most difficult things is creating real connections with the public relations, marketing and owners of the companies I work with.
There no doubt that one of the biggest struggles in blogging and working with companies is how to create a real line of communication in an online world. I have a couple of things that I started doing in the beginning and have served me well the past couple years.
A couple of years ago I had the desire to start a blog, but did not know where to begin. I started by writing a couple of posts about the daily mail that I received. Much of the items were free and sent to me via sampling programs and such.
It became clear very quickly that while I thought that was a viable topic, it was not enough to fill an entire blog. I began to brainstorm, and that is when I received the suggestion to do product reviews.
My Freaky Saturday seeing Disney’s Freaky Friday at the La Jolla Playhouse
There is nothing comparable to live theater, and musicals are no exception. I have been going to live theater shows at the La Jolla Playhouse since I was a young teenager. I have seen Rent, Shakespeare plays, one man shows and huge ensembles, all from 1st or 2nd row center seats. Now that I am older, my father’s season tickets never go to waste since Jason has the same love of theater I have.
Since we are such live theater fans, when we were asked if we wanted my father’s tickets to Freaky Friday we jumped at the chance. I grew up watching the original movie and then the mid 2000’s version.
I have always loved the story of a mother and daughter switching places, dealing with each other’s problems and finally seeing the value in the other side. I was intrigued and excited to see this story in a musical version.
Having our Cake and Eating it too – Our DIY Wedding BBQ
Jason and I have never been conventional people, and when we got married that was no different. One rainy day at the end of December of 2010 Jason called my during his break at work and asked if that approaching Thursday would be a good day to schedule our moment at the court-house.
While the call surprised me the over all conversation did not. We had made plans to get married and we had decided that we would go to the courthouse.
That Thursday came and went, and we did not tell anyone, and before we knew it we never found the right time. When we finally came clean to family and friends, almost 26 months had passed and a handful of people knew our secret – we were married!
II have always loved taking my photo with people in mascots. It started when I was young at Disneyland, and to this day when I see a mascot I have to stop and get a photo. This current love has progressed into mascots I see at the Expo’s I attend. It all started a couple of years ago, at the Gluten Free Allergen Friendly Expo and since that I make it a goal to get photos with the mascots of companies I see.
While attending the Natural Products Expo this year I took various photos with mascots as you will see.
